Read: James 1:22-25 - “But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.  For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.  But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.”

Reflect:

Are you content with simply intellectually knowing the truth? It is true that we must know the truth, but that truth must also be applied to our lives.  Be doers, James says, and not hearers only. Unfortunately, the tendency of our flesh is to hear something and do nothing about it. To know what to do is useless apart from practicing it. We don’t read the Bible to grow in knowledge alone. We read the Word of God and allow the Spirit of God to use it to shape us into the image of Jesus. It’s through His Spirit that He makes direct application of that Word into our lives. As we continue to navigate through AWAKEN, it is crucial that we hear from the Lord through His Word and walk in simple obedience as He reveals His plan for our lives.

Pray for the day:

Father, I ask You to speak to me about what You desire for me. I want to know Your plan. I pray that You would give me the ears to hear You and the grace and courage to follow You in whatever You say. I am open and available to You.
