Read: 2 Chronicles 7:14 - "and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Reflect:

Over the next 21 days, as a church family, we are crying out to the Father to move in power among His people. This passage teaches us several characteristics of God’s people that are true when God moves…

The first characteristic is prayer. To pray, we must humble ourselves. When humility is absent, there is no prayer. Prayer demonstrates dependence on God. Clyde Cranford said that “not praying is the most arrogant thing we can do.” God wants to bless us, but first He wants a relationship with us; in fact, He wants a growing relationship with us. No prayer=no growing relationship.

The second characteristic is seeking the Father! God moves in response to His people as they seek Him with their whole heart (Jeremiah 29:12-14). What does it look like to daily seek Him? We seek Him daily in our God Time as well as moment-by-moment throughout the day.

The third characteristic is turning from sin. The people of God must be sensitive to the voice of God in their lives as He points out areas of sin. Excuses should never be made for our sin. We shouldn’t blame others for our sin. We have one responsibility when God reveals areas of sin in our lives – confess (1 John 1:9). What sin do you need to confess today? When He reveals that area, confess it and embrace the forgiveness that is already yours in Jesus.

Over the next 21 days, we desire these characteristics to be true of our church so that, should He choose, we will be ready for God to move in power!

Prayer for the Day:

Lord, would You give me the grace to seek You in prayer with an attitude of humility, pursue Your presence daily in God Time, and be sensitive to sin in my life. Thank You, God, for what You’re going to do over the next 21 days in my life and the life of our church.
